Our kitchen

This is what our kitchen looks like. It's much bigger than London. Good for cooking in.

Our first SF gig

Last Wednesday we went to see Vampire Weekend and Cold War Kids live. Our first SF gig! Both bands were excellent. What was weird was that a DJ was also on the bill and thr DJ played first. The bands didn't come onstage until 11pm and midnight! Very late to be out drinking beer on a school night.

One great thing about gigs here is that many UK bands that we know and love are unknown and trying to break the scene here, and play in really small venues.

Things to do in SF when you've got no furniture

This is our life most evenings! No furniture and no TV means we sit on pillows and watch internet TV, courtesy of our neighbours Wi-Fi. We can only get a good reception at the window. Jenny is obsessed with watching re-runs of The Hills, I surf the information superhighway.
At least in January we can get our own internet connection.

Dinners and Sunsets

Two things San Francisco is good at are food and sunsets. Last Thursday we went for a fantastic seafood meal in the Hope and Anchor, courtesy of our wonderful London friends! Upon arrival, the restaurant manager greeted us, shook hands, and announced that "Darina would like to welcome you to San Francisco!" :) Here's Jenny outside:

On Saturday we went for a walk along the Marina. Here's the killer sunset.

On Sunday we wandered around Valencia Street shops. Another sunset with Jenny crossing the road.

Moved into our new house

Last Monday we moved into our new house. We're loving our new neighbourhood and it makes a big difference to be living in the city. Our house is pretty sparse, furniture not arriving until January. Here's Jenny in our big empty sitting room, freeloading on some neighbours WiFi.

Skiing at Heavenly

We went Skiing!

There's been no rain, hence no snow despite the sub zero temperatures. But Heavenly had the cannons on so they opened a couple of runs! Here's Jen at the top with Lake Tahoe in the background.

Here's Jen in full flight. She was going so fast I found it hard to capture her :-p

Here's a video of my first jump of the season. I'm the second guy with the totally unintentional 180 degree landing.

Walking along Lake Tahoe

We went for a walk along Lake Tahoe. We lasted about 10 mins because the temperature was 1c. Here's Jen at the end of a pier.

Our first Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving was last Thursday and we went up to our cabin for the first time. We have a shared lease on north Lake Tahoe with 16 other folk. There were 12 of us up this weekend. Here's Jen outside the cabin.

This is what our Thanksgiving dinner looked like. Everyone pitched in, our offering was an Apple Pie and a Pecan Pie, homemade by Jenny.

Fog that looks like it has pirates in it.

Marin headlands

This weekend we headed over the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin County. Breathtaking views, the roaring Pacific and sunset surfers.

Jenny drove down Lombard Street (the very windy one) in the SUV. Got up to 5mph. No mean feat.

We then went for strong whiskies in the MakeOutRoom.

Milk on Wisteria Lane

They have milk and orange juice here so it's not totally weird.

We're temporarily living in a clone of Wisteria Lane. Yesterday I helped Bree Van de Kamp carry in her shopping.

Welcome to America, where bigger is better

Enterprise offered us a free upgrade from a compact to an SUV or a Hummer. I can't be seen dead in a Hummer so we went for the SUV. Turned out it was bigger.

Leaving Battersea

Moving out of our first home was hard.
Empty shelves, packed bags and no furniture

Our Wedge coffee table. Made with pride in East Wall. Now en route to San Francisco via the Panama Canal.
